Badgley Mischka, Spring/Summer 2009

Well, it's graduation week in K land. We've had an end-of-the-year piano recital, dance recitals, a Kindergarten graduation, and tomorrow there's a Pre-Kindergarten (yes, there is such a thing) graduation to attend. What do you wear to such events, my dears?
Well, in an ideal world, with an ideal amount of disposable income, you would wear this lovely floral creation by Badgley Mischka. As it is, however, we're settling for the same old Banana Republic around here, dressed up a bit with a new belt. (I will admit that if I actually showed up anywhere in this jaw-dropping designer dress I would probably be embarrassingly overdressed. But, as a wise and stylish friend of mine likes to say, "It's always better to be overdressed than to be underdressed." I think that's a good rule of thumb.)
This gorgeous dress would not only be appropriate for the graduate (or her family members), but it would also be great for all those weddings, baby and bridal showers, and polo matches (LOL) one may be invited to during these warm summer months. I could even see it at the Kentucky Derby with a fashionable hat. (This is what happens when you've watched too much Pretty Woman and read too many tabloids...You are brainwashed into thinking you might actually need to have an outfit ready for a polo match or the Kentucky Derby someday. As I like to say,"You just never know, you know!")
Anyway, happy Wednesday...I hope this brought a little sunshine to your week!

I can see you in that dress...love it!
ReplyDeleteBold & bright patterns always look gorgeous on tan skin! I have a floral pattern dress from MANGO that I just adore & wear when the sun is blazing hot - it's so breezy & just perfect. Btw, the idea of being overdressed instead of underdressed, I'm so on the boat with that one. Rather stick out and look good, versus stick out and look shabby!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, love what your blog has to offer here, definitely looking forward to more posts. I actually just started a new blog, alongside my design blog, and was going to do a weekly fashion fix - under a different title, but a similar idea. :)
Lovely dress for sure but these cuts always present a challenge in terms of picking the right undergarments. I know you could wear a strapless bra but sometimes the outline pokes thru under delicate fabrics.
ReplyDeleteOh well, one can dream!
Ooooooh I love this dress! Its stunning!
ReplyDeleteWe just celebrated my daughter's graduation, she graduated from Fashion Design Institute "FDIM" in Los Angeles just last week. She is a fashion designer, and she's been working in costume design mostly for commercials for a good six months. She has turned her Mama onto fashion. I always loved beautiful clothes but now I see fashion as the true art form it really is.
